Cardiff University School of Music’s 2018/19 concert series starts with a programme of piano music performed by Késia Decoté featuring works by 20th and 21st century composers including a number of the School of Music’s alumni.
To celebrate Sir Karl Jenkins’ 75th birthday, the Symphony Orchestra will perform Llareggub. Sir Karl, an alumnus of Cardiff University School of Music, composed the piece as a musical snapshot of life in the fictional village setting of Dylan Thomas’s Under Milk Wood.
Working with leading Wales-based composer Lynne Plowman and the Berkeley Ensemble the six young composers will create new works for performance at Cardiff University School of Music chamber music series in April 2019.
A concert exploring music by the many reknowned Italian eighteenth-century composers who worked at the opulent court of Russian Empress Catherine the Great, where they quickly absorbed Russian aesthetic demands, especially with their choral works composed for the Russian Orthodox Church.
