Celebrating Monterverdi and Telemann: Cardiff University Chamber Choir

7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
St Augustine's Church, Penarth

In 1613 the Procurators of St Mark’s, Venice, dearly hoped that Claudio Monteverdi would restore the musical supremacy of Venetian church music established by Willaert, Rore and Zarlino. They would not be disappointed. Monteverdi not only put St Mark’s back on the musical map, but left a legacy comprising, arguably, some of the most beautiful sacred works ever written.

Celebrating Debussy: Trio Anima

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Cardiff University Concert Hall

The festival continues in March 2018, the centenary month itself. Trio Anima presents a beguiling programme of French chamber music, juxtaposing Debussy’s war-time Sonata for flute, viola and harp with works by Dubois, Jolivet, Fauré and Ravel.
