Cardiff University Orchestra together with their head of school, internationally-renowned concert pianist Kenneth Hamilton, and conductor, Mark Eager, and fellow musicians from the College of Arts at Xiamen University, gave a successful concert in the concert hall of the Science and Art Centre, Xiamen University. Music students from both institutions rehearsed for two days under the baton of Mark Eager and gave a polished performance of three works, Morfydd Owen’s Threnody, Michael Csanyi-Wills’ Seagull Nebula  and Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto.

The project was the first of its kind for both Universities and one which they are keen to repeat. Students involved have made friendships and connections which they will take into their professional lives and for Cardiff students this has added to experiences gained on recent European tours.
